To Gunnedah and back
13 Oct 2020
homeKids were in Gunnedah with the grandparents for the first week of school holidays. Lots of fun had by them and a very quiet week at home for us however it was as busy as ever at work so while we missed the kids, it was great to get home home and not have all the chaos and fighting that is usually associated with them being home.
We spent the long weekend up in Gunnedah, and pretty much spent the whole time either at the pool or playing Mahjong. It was bliss. The drive there and back was largly uneventful, plenty of cops around doing RBT's or just on patrol. We stopped off in Gulgong for lunch on the way back and the new park next to the swimming pool is amazing.
Lastly, after a mate from work posted to all that he is participating in the MS Gong virtual ride, I decided to get involved as well. After a bit of a break after hurting my back, I have been meaning to get back on the bike - this seemed like a great idea and I remember the motorcycle council was always looking for volunteer motorcycle riders to escort the bikes back when I was living in Sydney seemed like a really worthwhile event. While the actual event was cancelled, I could still ride in the virtual event (maybe I work my way up to actually do the real thing, seems like a huge, scary thing as I have never done that kind of distance at once) - adding activities to your profile and getting people to sponsor you in achieving your target distance. Happy to say that I nailed the 82km (the actual event distance) in a few days so I had to revise my target a bit - I'm thinking 400km for the month is acheivable if I continue to jump on the trainer every morning. See how I go.
I did manage to take the mountain bike for a bit of a trek up some hills the other day and took some photos for posterity!
