Library Wall
27 Jun 2025
workDuring a de-selection project at work to remove some of the more outdated titles, an idea was raised that we could create a feature wall with some of the withdrawn books. While I was involved in the de-selection part (including relocating books, dismantling shelves, relocating shelves, withdrawing items, etc), I honestly didn't have much to do with the book wall project so I can't take credit. But, I think it looks amazing and it is very visually striking when you walk up the stairs towards the main collection so I had to get some pictures of it.
It will be interesting to hear what kind of feedback we get from the greater University community - we have a few academics with very strong opinions on the library collection (we received some strongly worded emails when books started being removed from shelves as part of the deselection project but I don't think it's feasible to have a 15 year old book on Adobe Flash still sitting on the library shelves!) but I hope they can appreciate the time and effort that our staff put into the idea, I think it is a fantastic result!
